and we're back...

Hey folks, glad to see all of our loyal readers back with us after our first ever 'eandvinthebigeasyholidaytimesabattical.' After a much needed (and well deserved, I might add) break from the blogalaxy, we return to offer insights and intrigue from the lives of two people just trying to make their way in the rough and tumble world of the Crescent City.
I'll fill you in on where I stand and hopefully V, law school schedule permiting, will chime in with her own mad-cap, zany adventures. I guess we can recap where we last left everyone:
  • I had just finished another chapter on what is becoming quite an illustrious movie career with a staring role in Hillary Duff Presents, Hillary Duff in The Business of Falling in Love. I also appreciate the support for any of you watching the Golden Globes last night, there was talk of the movie carrying the "Best Drama" Category but looks like we didn't make the cut for this year's awards, I'm hearing sweep in 2010!
  • I survived the emotional and physical strain that was DesCours 2009. When I was told that my position during the architecturally themed festival was going to be "relaxed" and "chill" and "people will probably buy you a lot of drinks after", I had no idea what in reality I was getting myself into. I'm currently trying to track down some photos but let me give you a bit of a teaser as to how the week long festival went: It finished with a second line parade where we get a brass band to walk through the french quarter and everyone comes out and dances and its a great time, very New Orleans. Well, yours truly had the brilliant idea to rig up a rolling bar during the parade that would consist of 3 quarter kegs and a ice-chest kegerator-thing, all stacked high on a cart, that some poor shmuck would have to drag for the duration of the hour and a-half long parade. Brilliant idea right? Yeah, unless, of course, you are that poor shmuck. Needless to say I ended up sweating through my pants, undershirt, button down and sweater and also got appropriately drunk, since I tried to "lighten the load" by tasting my own wares, so to speak. All in all, not a bad time.
As for what is happening in the near future, we have some exciting things to look forward to as New Orleans gears up for Mardi Gras Season:
  • 37 of our closest friends from Washington are coming down to visit right before Mardi Gras, in what is shaping up to be quite a weekend. Needless to say, if anyone has a spare air mattress they could lend us, it would be appreciated. Apparently there is also some bad, mid-atlantic regional beef going down between G of Baltimore and C of Richmond, who hopefully can duke it out over "who can eat the most po-boys in a 36 hour period", or "who could get the closest to falling in the ol'Miss, but not actually fall in, during a 36 hour period". Just some thoughts.
  • Next week's playoff game for the black-and-gold. For those of you who don't live around here, damn do people love them some good Saints football. Whole city is crazy about it, which, you know, is pretty cool seeing as how I've been a Saints fan my whole life (I'm sticking to it). I managed to catch last Sunday's game at a bar on Esplanade which borders the French Quarter and was packed with a local, more than touristy crowd. This place had the brilliant idea of giving the whole bar a free shot everytime the Saints scored. After a couple of buckets of PBR, followed by the Saints racking up three scores in the first quarter, it was a long afternoon (kick-off was 3:30pm local time) and an E bedtime of about 9pm. The place ran out of liquor (at least the type they wanted to give out for free) and we ended the game by slugging down a couple rounds of strawberry flavored something.
That is most of what's going on, there is still the whole E needs to find a job issue, and V just realized Law School grading is anonymous and it really doesn't matter if you go to class or not, but who wants to hear about that?
